I needed to plant a fast-growing, tall screen to hide a mega-mansion that is replacing the modest house across the back fence. I went to the Bamboo Collective to get a look at some of the options and see the plant. Jon talked me through several options after quizzing me about the project and provided recommendations. But that was just the beginning of Jon's amazing services...
Jon asked me to send pictures of my proposed installation. I sent initial pictures of the site and kept on sending photos as the project progressed. He responded to each update with endless advice on barrier placement, depth, options for dealing with tree root penetrations, open vs. closed barrier, soil mix, soil depth, bamboo behavior, future maintenance, etc..., as well as sending pictures of other installations that illustrated the options.
I opted for in-ground planting of timber bamboo, dug a forty-foot C-shaped trench, installed a barrier (with some complications around large tree roots), filled the space with a mix of soil and mulch and waited for plants to arrive. Four very tall Phyllostachys dulcis just arrived in a truck yesterday. Can't wait to watch them fill in and hide that house.
